This is a proposal that I co-wrote and designed which was presented to the Von Dutch Originals clothing line. It established Von Dutch as a client for Leadfoot Motorsports, LLC and brokered a deal for Pedregon Racing in the NHRA Mello Yello Racing Series. Von Dutch Originals was the major sponsor for Brian Olatunji for three race seasons.
The Von Dutch proposal may go down in my personal history as my “wildest” endeavor in the corporate world. Von Dutch’s branding lent itself to some extremes and areas that I normally don’t get to traverse, as you can no doubt tell by the wild graphics and imagery.
The main NHRA Dodge Stratus Top Alcohol Funny Car render was created in two colors. I went a little wild with the paint job to match the flavor of Von Dutch’s lifestyle apparel brand at the time of this project. As you can see in the before and after image, I Photoshopped artwork onto a picture of a real life Nitro Funny Car to achieve the final result. In addition to removing the rear spoiler, the standard Nitro Funny Car blower seen in the original picture was replaced to accurately represent the type of blower used in the Top Alcohol Funny Car category.
The secondary Funny Car I created was black with red flames. It features a very wild skull design on the hood, which you can also see on one of the proposal pages. Like I said, this isn’t something I’d normally get to do so I had a lot of fun with this proposal.
